Stories and Drama Project: Irish Legends
The aim of this project is to introduce students to Irish culture through its most famous legends and folktales.
Rationale
Meeting the famous characters of Irish legends and folktales and learning about their exploits and attributes gives students a sense of the culture that inspires them. A story-telling task then gives students a framework for expressing their own experience of Ireland. They show their understanding of it through a video re-interpretation on a chosen story which they plan, record and edit in teams.
Learner Profile
Young Learners from age 12 to 16 who have an interest in storytelling and drama.
Learner Outcomes
By the end of this course students will have
- Developed an understanding of a range of Irish legends and folktales
- Explored the difference between a story and a script
