Project Introduction

Our university pathway programme is a partnership between Future Learning and the Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest (TUS) in Athlone to prepare students for entry to third level course by providing training in English communication or the other 21st Century Skills needed for success in University.

The aim of our pathway programme is to equip participants to communicate effectively in English in order to be able to progress academically at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Effective communication is about more than just the language, it is about engaging with the educational culture in an appropriate way. It aims to help develop communication skills that consider the
cultural as well as the linguistic challenges to successful studying in an English-speaking institution.

Learner Profile

This course is for learners who want to take the first step towards earning a degree in Ireland and will help students to make the transition to third level education in Ireland much easier. It provides a supportive, student-centred learning environment for the study of Academic English in a range of subject topics, including your area of interest, with an emphasis on Technology, Science and Business subjects.
